In 1964 KTM began to produce the first bicycles, at that time KTM already had 220 employees.
The company has existed since 1938 and was founded as a locksmith in Mattighofen, Austria by Hans Trunkenholz.
Since the production of the first bike, KTM has continued to develop with a lot of innovation spirit. The first racing bike was produced in 1978 and the first mountain bike was produced in 1988. A year later, KTM produced the 1,000,000 bike. This was followed by the first bike with aluminum frame in 1994 and the first bike with a full carbon frame in 2006.
The first e-mountain bike was presented in 2009. Which achieved a good and wide response after initial skepticism. Since then, a lot of innovation and constant further development into the e-bikes. To the stand that we know from KTM today.
