The types of bicycles

The types of bicycles

City Bikes
Citybikes (or city bikes) are probably the most popular in the world. They are designed for urban use, enable a comfortable driving position, often have modest components and are not even equipped with a gear, which is why they are even the cheapest on the market. In recent years, the increase in urban cyclists has led companies to have developed models of city bikes that are anything but modest and combine good components with an attractive design.

Some accessories can be useful for frequent use in the city, e.g. B. good lighting (actually mandatory and prescribed by the CDS), a housing (or a chain cover) to protect the clothing in front of the chain, a luggage rack for light luggage or a front basket.
City bikes almost always have 26 or 28-inch wheels with intermediate covers, neither too smooth as with racing bikes nor gnarled as with mountain bikes.

Mountain bike
Mountain bikes are bicycles that are designed for more or less unpaved terrain. You have compact geometries for reasons of practicability and driving behavior of the vehicle (on the other hand also a less upright driving position), 26 "wheels (the 29" or 27.5 "wheels have also been appeared for some time and slowly replace the old one Standard) with pissed covers, short translation gears for toughest climbs, hydraulic suspension and disc brakes. Mountain bikes are divided into two large categories: hung up at the front, only with the suspension fork and fully hung, also equipped with a rear shock absorber. The MTB disciplines are diverse and Each bike has certain properties to adapt to the differences.

E-bikes
Pedal -supported electric bikes are equipped with a small electric motor that makes it easier to kick, especially uphill and when starting. According to the legal provisions, the engine must have a maximum permanent output of 250 W, the top speed must not exceed 25 km / h and the support can only be active if you step at the same time. As with normal bicycles, there are many types of electric bicycles: city, trekking, freight, folding, mountain bike and more.

S-Pedelec
Electric bike with pedal support, which can reach up to 45 km, engines up to 500 watts with a medium or rear engine, in this other case there is a driver's license for motorcycles or a B driver's license as well as an insurance, a license plate and required compliance with the same road traffic rules for mopeds , in addition to the fact that S-Pedelecs must have a completely different homologation than the variant limited to 45 km

Racing bikes
The racing bike is the bike that was developed to drive quickly, for competitions or just a pleasure, but still strong. The shape of the frame (often made of carbon fiber) of the racing bike is the classic diamond shape, the driving position towards the handlebar very unbalanced, the racing curve with the classic curved back shape (which enables you to hold your hands in your hand) three different positions) from Covered straps, long corridors, 28-inch wheels with smooth and narrow tires, with sections of 23 or 25 mm. The brakes are the classic swivel saddle, the brake pads of which work on the rim post.

BMX
BMX bikes (short for Bicycle Motocross, with X stands for cross) are single-gear bikes, small and light, but solid, with 20-inch wheels (24 in cruiser models). They are mainly used in special competitions or in exhibitions and acrobatics in equipped bicycle parks.

Downhill
Downhill (ie) is a bicycle discipline that takes place exclusively downhill on demanding routes, which are characterized by very steep slopes, jumps and natural or artificial obstacles.
The downhill bike is exposed to heavy loads and has a very resistant frame, a very wide handlebar for more control and front and rear wheel suspension, powerful disc brakes and corridors that are tailored to the downhill speeds.

Fat bike
Fat Bikes are a direct further development of MTB, characterized by bikes with very wide tires (the section must be at least 3.7 inches in size, but can also reach 4.5 inches) and rims that are wider than 44 mm. Fat obviously does not refer to the bike itself, but to the tires, the cross -section of which is so large that the wheel diameter is very close to 29 inches.

Folding bikes
The folding wheel is most commonly characterized by wheels of size 16 ", 20" or 24 "and the possibility of folding together thanks to a mechanism on the lower tube. They are mainly designed for urban use with or without a change and have the great advantage that that You can be combined by public transport and can be folded together in buses, subways and trains for free.

Bicycle components

Bicycle components

frame
The frame is the load -bearing part of the bicycle and differs in different categories depending on the discipline. With mountain bikes, the frame can be at the front or fully (hung). The difference is that the full wheel in addition to a suspension fork also has a shock absorber system on the rear wheel, which leads downhill to a better traction and better handling. However, most of these models do not have the option of mounting a bottle holder and are uncomfortable when wearing the bike. The frame can consist of different materials:

Traditional steel bicycles use this material that optimally absorbs vibrations and imperfections on the street. However, it has the disadvantage that it can easily be attacked by rust, but can even last decades if the maintenance is good. Aluminum and aluminum alloys are used because it is easier, not rusted, but abrasion with salt has a negative effect on the structure, especially unpainted aluminum; And in any case it doesn't last much longer than steel; In addition, a framework that is exposed to frequent strains tends to become weaker. Titan is light, resistant, does not rust, does not worsen and has a good ratio of stiffness to elasticity. The only disadvantage is the difficulty in cutting and welding the pipes, therefore a higher price. Carbon fibers consist of a interweaving of carbon fibers that are integrated into a mixture of epoxy resin. Depending on the alignment of the fibers, the frame can be more or less stiff. In addition to the high price, the error of this material is that it can no longer be repaired if it is damaged after a difficult collision.

Cable and reconciliations
Cable and reconciliations
The cables enable the brake or gear control. They consist of many thin steel wires that are wrapped around themselves. It happens that the cable adjusts to the voltage received in the first applications so that the gear or the brake requires a further setting. A metal cap is welded to one of its ends, which optimizes the support in your headquarters within the handlebar control.
The covers are the covers that are wrapped in the cables and formed on the inside of a metal spiral that enables considerable flexibility without changing the interior. The spiral is then coated with a polymer film that protects against dirty and moisture. Some types of covers contain a very thin layer of Teflon inside, which facilitates the smoothness of the cable.

Coat anatomy
The covers are attached to the frame of the bicycle by special invitations, whereby the circles hold them without jumping from bumps. You can run indifferently over or below the top tube. In the latter case, you can be annoying if you have to put the bike on the shoulder.
Some frame models are equipped with special internal channels in which the coatings or only the cables slide. With a good interpretation, this type of system has no disadvantages.
Check regularly whether the cable stays clean by removing the coatings from the guided tours. With some bicycles, the derailleur cables are free under the bottom bracket: these parts are more susceptible to dirt.

The saddle
There are 4 parts in the saddle:

The frame has a triangular shape and two parallel pipes, which are referred to as cars. It consists of steel, titanium or carbon and has the function of supporting the cyclist on the bicycle frame.
The trunk is the part that gives the saddle shape. It can consist of plastic, carbon fiber or another material that can absorb vibrations.
Upholstery, covers the fuselage and has the task of making the saddle comfortable.
Cover the outer layer of the saddle. It consists of non -slip material and must have the property to sweat.
Attitude
The saddle settings are 3:

The height is adjusted in the frame tube by means of the sliding tube and fixed with the corresponding stop. The ideal height is found when you sit comfortably on the saddle and stretch your leg on the pedal. The latter must be at the lowest point of his hub. The height of saddle and handlebar is usually the same, with the exception of racing bikes, in which the saddle is 5 to 7 cm higher than the handlebar to improve the aerodynamics of the cyclist in competitions.
The inclination is set by the screw under the saddle. The setting is almost subjective because it depends on the type of saddle and the type of seat. In most cases, however, the saddle must be parallel to the ground. For the setting, you can use a water scale, whereby the bike is located on the wheels between the tip of the saddle and its rear part. If this method does not help, it is always better to keep the tip lower than keeping your back.
Progress, this is also set with the same tipping screw by pushing the attack on the pole. This setting depends on the driver and the handlebar setting. When the saddle moves forward, the weight of the body moves forward and then onto the arms and wrists, which promotes the balance and precision. If you withdraw, the weight on the saddle is larger and you gain treading force. If the pedals are at the same height, the imaginary line falling from the knee should generally fall onto the pedal axis (a soldering line can be used).
The average position requires the angle between the arms and the upper body 90 °. The weight of the cyclist acts on the saddle and with the tensions absorbed by the floor, the fastenings can easily loosen. Wait these parts regularly.

Seat post
It is the tube that carries the saddle. It can consist of aluminum, carbon or titanium, at the upper end it has a head that is trapped in the sled in the sled in the saddle frame and screwed with a half shell. It can have one or two screws for forward and inclination.
For the most demanding mountain bikers, it is possible to assemble the telescopic post, a hydraulic system lets the saddle rise or fall to the desired height. A lever under the saddle enables you to carry out this process without having to stop. Some models are equipped with a remote control: With a cable or a hydraulic hose, you can control this process directly from the handlebar. The only precaution is to ensure that the cable or the hose does not touch the rear wheel while the saddle is lowered.

The wheel or the rim
The wheel consists of the hub, the pen to which it is attached to the frame, the spokes that form the rim together with the rim.

Ray
Spokes are the metal parts that work between hub and rim in most bicycles. They absorb vibrations from the floor and consist of two different ends: the head is an enlargement that can be guaranteed and straight or bent to the attachment to the hub flange. On the other hand, the thread that enables it can be attached to the rim by a certain elongated mother called nipple and set in the voltage. The central body generally has a cylindrical section with a variable diameter of 1.3 mm or oval shapes.

MTB BMX spoke adjuster
In most cases, the spokes consist of steel, chrome, molybdenum, nickel, titanium or carbon alloys. If you look at the bike, as mentioned above, it is not really spokes, but all tangents. With rim deformation, this enables the wheel to be aligned with a special tool, the spoke adjuster or tensioner (photo above). By turning the wheel in its seat and pressing lightly on the brakes (disc brakes are not valid, in this case a wheel centering device is required) stops the wheel at the point where it is deformed, and therefore use the spoke wheel at the outside end the spoke the thread that is pulled from the opposite side. Always turn a quarter of the turn to not damage the wheel, and definitely work on the spoke before and after the deformed part. It is an operation that requires a lot of rest and patience, is continued in this way and brings the ice skates closer and closer. In the end, the bike turns perfectly. Make sure not only to pull the spokes on one side, otherwise there is a risk that the hub will drop off the axis (fall). A method that could prove to be expedient is to mark the part of the circle with which we are sure to be perfectly centered with a cord or a ribbon. We know that these spokes do not require adaptation.
In any case, all spokes must be drawn to ensure good maintenance and ensure maximum efficiency.

Lenticular and race
Lentil bikes are used in road bike fights, which have a solid structure instead of spokes. This element usually consists of carbon fiber or resin and its profile can be lens -shaped or completely flat. This type of bike is only mounted on racing bikes in the rear wheel, since the fixed part does not let the air through and is therefore not suitable for cornering. It is advantageous for the aerodynamics and stiffness of the wheel, but disadvantageous in the event that side winds blow. With progress, spokes wheels were invented, which have the same rigidity, better driving behavior for side winds, but a lower aerodynamics than the lenses.

hub
The hub is the central part of the wheel, which enables it to turn. At its ends it is equipped with flanges, holes for inserting the spokes. This determines the number of spokes that are mounted on this wheel. Then they differ in diameter, type of spokes and the distance between the two flanges indicates the measure of the curvature, ie the inclination of the spoke cone. The hub runs the axis of the wheel, the pivot point around which it turns. This element is made of steel or titanium and is nothing more than a hollow cylinder in the middle and with the two thread ends for fastening. In the latter, normal screws or the quick locking lever can be located, a lever that is equipped with a threaded part with an eccentric system. These are screwed in so that the lever stays along the frame tube or to the back of the bicycle to prevent branches from getting caught on the way. The wheel -speed system is based on ball bearings that are within the hub.
The freewheel is the mechanism between the rear wheel hub and the chain wheels and enables the chain not to transfer the inertia movement of the wheel to the pedals.

Circle
The circle can have a variable profile of 2 to 6 cm height. The low profile is light and absorbs the vibrations of the soil better. However, it is more fragile and easily deformable, in contrast to the high, robust, but heavier. For this reason, they often consist of carbon fiber. On average, the average profile becomes increasingly a reference standard. Since this part of the bike is rubbed with the brake pads, it is advisable to regularly check the condition of the brake railway for dirt, scratches or cracks. The size of the circle always corresponds to its diameter in inches.
The VAT district
The FSO (Universal Standard for Tubeless) is a rim with a certain section that enables a greater airtightness for tubeless tires. Another

The tires
The tires have to wear the weight of the bicycle and cyclist so that they are comfortable enough to withstand vibrations and withstanding breakdowns as much as possible. They consist of many more or less thin filaments that are crossed and overlapped and form the canvas. This is impregnated with resins that enable its elastic movement. In the part that comes into contact with the floor, the tread is also applied from rubber, which can contain a breakdown protection reinforcement in Kevlar.
There are different types of tire that are mainly divided between street and mountain bike tires. In the former there are tubes that are called so that due to their tube shape. They are mechanically good because they have the property of being completely closed by a seam covered with a cotton band. Then everything is glued to the circle with a certain putty. This type of tire distributes the loads that the wheel is exposed to better and with the development of technologies we came to the open hose, similar to the classic tire. The carcass consists of a interweaving of cotton or nylon threads. The thinner they are, the softer the tires. The number, followed by the abbreviation TPI specified on the tire, corresponds to the number of threads in an inch. Above 100 TPI, the carcass is considered soft. The beads, the edges of the tire in contact with the rim, can consist of steel or Kevlar, ie more or less stiff.
Depending on the use of the bicycle, the profile can have more or less blocks from different shapes. The tire dimensions are expressed by two numbers separated by the multiplication sign: the first specifies the diameter of the tire, the second the width. All dimensions are specified in customs and the diameter are standard sizes.

Tire selection and profile notes
The choice of the tire type is also important, not only based on the degree of hardness, but also on the profile pattern. This essentially depends on the type of discipline for which it is used, but there are some common basic factors for all models. Contrary to the popular opinion, the front wheel has a different design than the rear wheel. The latter bears most of the driver's weight and must therefore have a harder connection, especially in the middle part, where the design of the blocks has to be smoother and thicker, but at the same time must ensure sufficient grip for the gradients. Unpaved roads.
The front wheel is that that must have more grip in curves and especially when braking. The side blocks are of fundamental importance and must not be too difficult to adapt to the floor load. To understand whether the tire is suitable for use that we make of it, just take a look at the buttons: the higher you are, the better you are suitable for very muddy terrain. The distance between the two determined other factors that were mentioned earlier: the closer the blocks lie together, the smoother the wheel becomes.

Tire pressure
The right tire pressure is very important for the safety of the cyclist.
In paved areas, the tires must be well inflated to take advantage of the entire strength and therefore not to fight. On dirt roads such as paths, however, the excessively pumped wheel bounces off obstacles and affects the grip on the floor. The correct pressure depends on several factors: the weight of the bicycle, the weight of the driver, the size and the tire type, the type of area to be mastered and the driving style. In practice, the pressure is correct when the tire copies the floor without jumping and the rim does not touch the floor (so that the hose is not damaged).
On wet and slippery soil it is recommended to let the air out of the tires so that the tire has more grip on the floor.

Repair of the hose
To change a hose, it must be completely emptied and removed from the cover with the tire levers. It is important to ensure that the hose is not damaged. Pump the inner tube with a pump or a compressor and dip it in a water tank. When you put pressure on your hands, you will see how the air bubbles leave the hole. After you have dried the area of the hole and ground horizontally and vertically with fine sandpaper, apply a layer of putty so that it protrudes from the pavement, and wait 3 to 4 minutes until the putty reacts. In the meantime, check the tires, whether foreign bodies and pens are used on both the interior and outdoor surface. Apply a patch on the orange side or a piece of bladder that was cut to the surface with putty and place a weight on it. A few minutes should be enough to stick to the chamber. Attention: If the inner tube has tight cuts, this means that that

Switching and derailleur
Bike change
The gear is the mechanism with which you can change gears when cycling. Gang means the one who acts on the chain wheel on the rear wheel (photo left); By derailleur we mean the mechanism that affects the crowns of the pedals. The gearbox is therefore nothing more than a few wheels that force the chain to move from one chain wheel to the other.
The chain wheel set or the chain wheel box is the set of concentric crowns attached to the rear wheel hub. The crank set, on the other hand, is a set of chainrings attached to the bottom of the bicycle. Each chainring, both on the back and on the front derailleur, has a somewhat thinner sector to facilitate the derailment of the chain from one chain wheel to the other. In the technical jargon, the number that distinguishes one crown from the other corresponds to the number of teeth. This number is given on the crown, followed by the letter T.
The entire cassette disassembled by loosening the front ring nut. In order to carry out this process without damaging the components of the bicycle, you need special tools with which the ring mother can be unscrewed, and a whisk to keep the chain wheel cassette in place.
Check whether all transmission teeth are properly aligned and whether the screws are tightly tightened so that the gearbox works properly.
Both the circuit and the derailleur control must have the number of clicks that correspond to the number of corresponding chainrings. The controls are located near the handlebar handles: the derailleur on the left and the circuit on the right. These pull on the cable by moving the derailleur element and then pushing the chain to the largest chainring. On the contrary, a return spring enables it to drive in. There are two types of controls: the rotary buttons are integrated on the side of the buttons and can be turned around the handlebar. The push buttons have two levers. By pressing the lower lever, the chain goes to the sprocket and pulls the chain down the upper.

The derailleur element of the derailleur is formed by the chain guide cage, a piece of metal in which the chain runs. For the derailleur, it is the failing, two parallel bikes that are inserted into a metal cage and also have the function to keep the chain under tension. It is important that the cables are kept under control regularly. This prevents one of them from breaking during a bicycle trip and therefore being reintroduced with the smaller chain wheel. In this case, simply insert a pebble in the right place and make sure to move the switching barrel towards a larger chain wheel. If the bike is not used for a long time, it is recommended to unload the derailleur, i.e. to put it into a state in which the cables are not tensioned.
A technological alternative to the mechanical cable was launched by Acros in 2011: the hydraulic transmission. It works just like the mechanical, both the rear and the front rear derailleur, but instead of cables, two hydraulic hoses are used. The advantage is to significantly reduce the weight and increase the change speed. The only disadvantage seems to be the costs. Similarly, Shimano's electronic circuit uses a simple electrical cable, but has the disadvantage that it is not operated with empty batteries.
Of course, the sprockets and crowns also have to be checked for wear with special tools: To avoid their wear, avoid keeping the chain at an angle, the large sprocket with a large crown and the small sprocket with a small crown. The maintenance of these parts is to keep the moving parts clean, smear, to check whether the failure is not bent, otherwise the rear derailleur will not work well, and to check the alignment of the derailleur on the chainrings.
During the mountain bike excursion, it is recommended to use the gear before starting an ascent to avoid a sudden change. Another way of not loading the transmission too much is to reduce the pressure of the foot on the pedal.
With a simultaneous switching, in which rear derailleur and derailleur must be used together, it is important to change the crank with the derailleur and then the rear chain wheel. In this way, treading rhythm and strength are not lost and it is easier to cope with the climb.

Trekking bikes
Trekking wheels are equipped with knobs as standard in order to achieve a better traction on unpaved roads, and with an excellent suspension that absorbs the roughness of the soil to ensure ideal comfort.

The geometries of this bike enable them to keep an increased position to clearly see what it surrounds. The tires are quite wide, have a large diameter and high pressure. The Lombardo trekking wheel shown in the picture is equipped with 28-inch wheels, for example. Thanks to these properties, they last longer and offer them more stability. Rims and spokes are light because they are not designed for heavy dirt.

The frame can consist of steel or light aluminum, robust materials that last long and are relatively inexpensive. The handlebar is generally flat like that of a mountain bike.

The properties of the translation conditions also increase the versatility of this bike. The conditions range from 16 to 27 and enable them to manage both the most difficult climbs and flat routes.

The pedals mounted on the trekking wheels are platform-based, so that the cyclist can easily get in and out. If you prefer a stronger pedal stroke, you can also mount the pedals with the clip.

Children's wheels
If you decide to buy a bike for a small child, we can certainly leave the aesthetics behind - or rather that we can pay less attention.

In fact, the most important features are those that enable the child's safe and comfortable use of the vehicle.

It is therefore recommended to set the bike. Below you will see a small diagram to determine the correct height in terms of the width of the wheels:

12 inches: 71 to 97 cm in size;
16 inches: 97 to 122 cm tall;
20 inches: 122 to 152 cm tall.
It is also important that the handlebars and saddle are set in such a way that the child has a comfortable attitude and a back as upright.

Scooter
The scooter is a vehicle with two or more wheels, the movement / drive of which is determined by the human muscle thrust through the lower limbs. It consists of a platform on which the feet rest, a handlebar stored on the platform with which the direction is changed, and a brake that is normally positioned at the back to block the rear wheel and thus the vehicle, or like the classic Bicycle brakes, d. H. Near the handrail on the handlebar.

Transpo boumes
Cargo bikes or transport bikes are bicycles that were specially developed and built for wearing loads. Cargo Bikes are used in a wide variety of areas, from transporting packages and letters to street sales, from small companies to the transport of people and so on.

Bicycle maintenance

How often should the bike be waited?

bicycle
Maintenance of the bicycle is necessary in order to not only ensure the proper function of the vehicle, but above all so as not to be left on foot at the worst moments.

With a muscle bike, the basic maintenance is to properly oil and clean the chain and to check the proper function of the brakes and the tire pressure.

These are the most important components of the electric bike. If you only neglect one of them, the proper function of the vehicle is affected.

E-bike
The motor
Together with the battery, the engine is the heart of the electric bike. The necessary maintenance of these two parts of the e-bike requires a certain amount of attention when cleaning and washing the bike. Even if the engine is protected from rain, it is important to avoid direct water jet in order not to affect the operation. Cleaning should take place with a damp cloth and a special cleaning agent.

battery
To get it, you have to clean your bike every time you drive a muddy or sandy path with the corresponding technical petroleum jelly. In fact, mud and sand can affect the operation of the engine and the battery in the long run. If the bike is not used for a long time or must be transported during a trip, it is best to lose weight and store it at least 30% of its load at room temperature.

transmission
In order to ensure proper operation of the electric bike, the chain wheels and the chain, which are part of the gearbox, must be carefully oiled and cleaned. Also avoid dripping oil onto the engine so as not to damage it.

Tires and brakes
Checking the tire pressure is important to consume the correct battery charge. In fact, emptied wheels emptied the engine more and therefore contribute to unloading the battery before it is due and there is a risk that you will walk. The brakes of an electric bike are therefore used more often than a muscle bike and must therefore be carefully monitored. The check can be carried out from the brake lever to ensure that the correct pressure is available. Brake pads must also be monitored, for example with hydraulic disc brakes.

Update the software
Every self -respecting electric bike is equipped with software that can optimize its operation. Just like with other digital devices such as smartphones, the parent companies regularly publish updates.

Bicycle security

To select the best bicycle lock, you have to take different aspects into account and above all the usual use of the bike, the places where you are common, and the time to put the bike to.

Fair, it must be said that a 100% safe lock does not actually exist. As with all security systems, nothing is absolutely certain, but it is also true that a good padlock can reach almost 100% and protect our vehicle in order to avoid very uncomfortable situations.

So let's take a look at all the functions to understand how you can choose the bicycle lock to be bought.

Resistance and class
The first feature that has to be assessed before buying the bicycle lock is the durability of the theft protection against cuts. As a rule, those who steal bicycles use the same knives that are used during construction to cut the iron bars, therefore very effective tools.

The review of the resistance and the assessment of the further treatments of the steel of the padlock was therefore the first to check. The treatments that are usually carried out are thermal and oil hardening, nitriers and cement.

The resistance is specified in the technical properties of each bicycle lock and specified in KG / CM2 or in N / M2.

The resistance class is given on a scale from 0 to 3. Zero has a resistance of almost zero, 1 a resistance to wire cutters of about 25 cm and class 2 can be cut with wire cutters of at least 120 cm, locks in class 3 require more demanding tools and a professional thief that can use them.

Weight and mass
When traveling by bike, the weight of the theft protection system must be taken into account, since it has to be transported. The resistance inevitably requires heavy materials. Even innovative materials that have been treated properly can guarantee good resistance with reduced weight. It is therefore good to check the weight, as it has to be pressed by stepping.

Functional mechanism
A good castle enables you to attach the bike to a firm and immovable element. If this is not the case, it must be taken into account that everyone can take the bike on the shoulder and take them away, the entire alarm is used.

Disassembly and assembly
Pull -up locks, chains and theft fuse systems for bicycles generally have to be fastened and removed, especially in cases where they very often climb onto the saddle and rise from it. Then check the speed of opening and closing.

U-lock theft protection
The ironing lock is viewed by many as the best type of theft fuse under bicycle locks and has an unmistakable design. It is a steel arch with the characteristic U-shape and a small connecting body that is closed with a key.

The manufacturers of this bicycle lock guarantee its safety: to open you need an acetylene burner or a hose.

So is that the best bicycle lock? In reality, even the ironing lock can be torn down: If there is too much space between the headband and the bicycle frame, an experienced thief can remove it (albeit with many difficulties) with a lever.

However, do not save at the price to secure the best U-Lock bike lock. Buying a cheap ironing lock would mean buying a steel product that is not very resistant. The ironing lock is therefore the safest, but also the most expensive type.

Chain
The bicycle chain is the most classic theft fuse system for bicycles. It consists of several steel rings of different thicknesses, which are inserted into a rubber or plastic tube and are closed at the ends by a padlock. Regardless of the thickness of the rings, chains are the least secure and easiest to break theft fuses with simple wire cutters.

Square linkage
The square link differs from the conventional screw by the shape of its limbs. This is a more robust bicycle lock that is usually covered with a special fabric and has a considerable total weight. The padlock is also more demanding because it offers a lock with double or triple clinies. Usually the dimensions of these chains are so that bicycle thieves are discouraged in sight, but they are very bulky and, above all, difficult to wear.

Steel cable
It is a wrapped metal cable, which consists of spirally intertwined steel wires, with the main advantage that it resists cutting very well. The cable has at the ends of the hooks to which the padlock is attached, and it is preferable to choose cables with large dimensions. A good padlock with burglary protection must then correspond to a large cable. If you buy a cable of this kind, you have to deal with the mass and weight of the cable that must not be neglected when moving.

Metal cable pull -out
This cable is suitable for those who want to attach both bikes. In fact, it is able to expand. The cable has a rather robust lock. To be effective, it should be used in connection with an ironing lock. It is not one of the safest, but remains ideal for those who often travel because it weighs very little and is confusing.

Spiral cable with combination
It resembles the stretchy metal cable, has a rubber or plastic coating, but is closed by a number lock. It is a very light and easy -to -transport tool, it is not one of the safest (the combination can be easily traced back by a specialist), but it is an ideal theft fuse for those who take short breaks on the bike and immediately afterwards in rise the saddle.

Python theft fuse
The theft fuse in Python style consists of small movable cylinders that are used in a rubber housing. It is flexible, practical and solid. It has considerable dimensions and can therefore also prevent the attempted theft visually. On the other hand, it is bulky and heavy.

It is a good kind of theft fuse for those who have to leave the bike for a long time, but not for those who move frequently and often climb on the bike and descend from it.

Line
This fuse for theft differs from the conventional ones by their steel sheet structure, which is connected by various joint points. With the existing joints you can extend the alarm and work on yourself. Thanks to this mechanism, the entire dream is minimal.

Although the steel structure is very solid and appears visually very robust, the joints are the weak point: a soft steel alarm on these areas could actually be easily torn down. The closure is with a lock.

Sound bicycle lock
One of the innovations in recent years is the sound bike alarm. This theft fuse is equipped with an acoustic alarm that is only activated if you move the bike and send a signal to the owner.

In addition, the acoustic alarm has the "Find me" function: The alarm sends a position signal with a range of 300 meters via a slave positioned on the bike itself.

These types of locks are battery operations with a duration of 45 to 70 days and can be a good choice for those who take quick trips and short breaks.

How to bind the bike
In order to tie the bike correctly, it is advisable to anchor it at a fixed removable point like a bar, a luggage rack or a goal. In fact, it is one of the most common mistakes to bind the bike on yourself, the first and most common. In addition, it must be ensured that there are no slightly moving parts at the ends that could enable the bike to remove the bike.

If you use a chain, it is better to guide you by triangling the frame. If you have an ironing lock, it is better to introduce the padlock to the triangulation of the rear wheel. Another frequent error is to secure the bike at a weak point that can be easily opened or removed, or worse to repair the wrong parts of the bike.
