Pflege von E-Bikes - HildRadwelt

The dirt has to go. This applies after many ebike tours, especially in autumn and winter. But how do you properly maintain your ebike? What preparations should you make? And what should be considered especially in winter? The Bosch specialist advisor Harald Sterzl gives answers.

1 How do I best care for my eBike?
Sterzl
: Depends on how polluted it is. In any case, water is never wrong as long as it does not come from the steam jet. It is simply a no-go to go to the components of an ebike with high pressure because water can penetrate the storage of the engine, hubs or rear triangles.

2 Which cleaning agent can I use?
Sterzl: Bike shampoos and care products from specialist retailers are highly recommended because they do not attack plastics and seals. Soap lunch or detergent can also be used. However, these should not be too aggressive or too strong.

3 Is there a rhythm that you recommend to clean an eBike?
Sterzl: Ideally after every Ebike tour so that the dirt does not settle. So as often as possible and necessary. It is also about preventing corrosions, for example after touring on the North or Baltic Sea.

4 And what preparations should I make before washing?
Sterzl: In any case, remove the battery and, if possible, remove displays. Displayed displays such as our purion or remote buttons that control the system of an eBike should be covered with a cloth or film.

5 What to do if water runs into the battery recording?
Sterzl: The recording is designed so that water can run and the contacts can dry. To ensure this, you should keep the recording and the plug area clean. The contacts are provided with a coating that protects the surface from corrosion and wear. If necessary, you can use poles from time to time or technical Vaseline.

6 Do I have to grease the chain of an ebike more often than with a bike without an electric drive?
Sterzl: This is based on use. Basically no more and no less. A chain is particularly stressed when it goes off -road or if it is not gently enough.

7 Where should I grease the chain - on the front pinion or back?
Sterzl: Neither nor. With lubricating agents, you should make sure that the brake discs get nothing or the tooth wreath glued. So it is best to spray where the chain runs free. It is best to absorb excess fat with a rag or soft cloth.

8 What do I have to do to make my ebike winter -proof if it is not used for a few weeks or months.
Sterzl: It should be clean and easily greased, and I would also treat the chain and free aluminum parts with care products. The battery and display should be removed and stored dry and at room temperature, ideally between zero and 20 degrees. It is important that the battery still has a charging capacity between 30 and 60 percent.

9 And if I am on the road with Ebike in winter?
Sterzl: Simply free the splash or snow after the drive from the salt and let it dry well. Don't worry, Ebikes are very robust.

5 tips for the correct care of Ebikes:

  1. Remove before cleaning the battery and displays or if necessary cover with a cloth or foil.
  2. Use bike shampoo, brush and soft sponge and in no way a steam jet orUse high -pressure cleaner.
  3. When giving the drive chain, make sure that there is no lubricant on the disc brake.
  4. Clean the eBike regularly and do not wait until gross dirt has settled.
  5. After washing, make a short functional check: Is the battery really cried out? Is workingthe drive correctly? If the system reacts correctly at the push of a button
